Buddy Fan Club

Buddy Lee Tweedie lived from the early 2000’s until 2015.  When he was young he was picked up as a stray and ended up at an animal shelter called Orphans of the Storm.  He was an amazing dog who spent most of his time at Roscoe Village Bikes working as a greeter and unlicensed therapy dog.  Buddy was very gentle and affectionate especially with kids.  In 2014 he was featured on PBS Kids Martha Speaks.  He will be missed but his legacy lives on in his animal-loving fans.

In December 2007 Lesley and Alex, the owners of the shop, decided to launch the Buddy Fan Club to help support rescue dogs.  Buddy Fan Club buttons were made available for a $5.00 donation.  All proceeds went to charities like Orphans of the Storm in Riverwoods, IL, PAWS Chicago, the Anti-Cruelty SocietyChicago Canine RescueThe Red Door Animal ShelterARF House ChicagoGreyhounds OnlyAlive RescueFound Chicago, and Heartland Animal Shelter.

With over 600 members, The Buddy Fan Club raised thousands of dollars.  In 2012 he was honored to win Racked Chicago’s Racked Award for Coolest Store Sidekick.  Buddy was our hero and an exemplary shop dog.  The Buddy Fan Club is no longer active, but Roscoe Village Bikes continues to support animal rescue organizations in his memory.  Dogs are welcome at Roscoe Village Bikes.
